British watchmaker Apiar has unveiled its first core range, the Gen1.0, alongside a special limited edition MR². Founded in 2022 by engineers and childhood friends Matt Oosthuizen and Sam White, Apiar is built on a mission to “build the impossible” by fusing advanced engineering with watchmaking.
Gen1.0 Dawn and Dusk
The Gen1.0 is a striking example of how generative design and additive manufacturing can redefine horology. Designed in collaboration with watch designer Max Resnick, the watch is created using 3D metal printing techniques typically found in aerospace and hypercar engineering. The result is a titanium case with skeletonised lugs and a three-dimensional dial structure that would be impossible through traditional methods.
Two versions are available.
Dawn features a brushed gold anodised dial plate that plays with light across the sculpted titanium structure, giving it a refined yet modern character.
Dusk is finished in a blue-grey tone, inspired by engineering blueprints, which highlights the geometric architecture without distraction.

Both models use grade 23 titanium, prized for its strength and biocompatibility, and are powered by the Swiss La Joux-Perret G101 automatic movement. With a 39 mm case, a thickness of 9.2 mm, water resistance of 30 m, and a 68-hour power reserve, the Gen1.0 combines engineering precision with design innovation. The retail price is £1,875 (£2,250 including VAT).
Gen1.0 MR²: A Cross-Industry Collaboration
The limited edition Gen1.0 MR² emerged from a media mix-up. Time + Tide mistakenly confused designer Max Resnick (MR1) with another Max Resnick (MR2), a blockchain researcher linked to Solana. This coincidence sparked a collaboration that brought together watchmaking and cryptocurrency culture.
The MR² carries over the generative geometry of the Dawn and Dusk while integrating details inspired by blockchain. Each of the 30 pieces features a laser-annealed titanium caseback with a diagram of the SHA-256 logic, customised to include the unique number of the piece and the names of the collaborators. The dial design reinterprets the Solana mark as a CNC-machined guilloché pattern, sandblasted and polished before being finished with a grey ombré lacquer.
Like the core range, the MR² is constructed with additive manufacturing and powered by the La Joux-Perret G101. It also tests Apiar’s concept of interchangeable dials, allowing cases to house either conventional or fully 3D-printed organic dials. Limited to just 30 pieces, the MR² is priced at £2,220 (£2,664 including VAT) or approximately 15 SOL in cryptocurrency.
Apiar’s Philosophy
Apiar’s approach rests on three principles: build impossible, build sustainable, and build British. By using additive manufacturing, Apiar minimises waste, adds strength and complexity, and allows designs that traditional methods cannot achieve. The company sources and assembles most components within the UK, aiming for a fully British supply chain.
With the launch of the Gen1.0 Dawn, Dusk, and MR², Apiar demonstrates how engineering-led thinking can redefine the boundaries of watch design.
