BMW Motorrad Vision CE – Urban Mobility, Reinvented

At the IAA Mobility 2025 show, BMW Group unveiled the BMW Motorrad Vision CE, a concept that redefines electric two-wheel mobility for the city. It blends safety, innovation, and design into a single package while challenging long-held assumptions about what urban commuting should feel like.

A Step Beyond Helmets and Gear

One of the boldest ideas behind the Vision CE is the elimination of helmets and protective clothing. Thanks to an integrated safety system, riders can enjoy the freedom of open-air commuting without sacrificing security. This approach recalls BMW’s own history. The C1 scooter launched 25 years ago also broke conventions by offering protective bodywork and seatbelts instead of helmets. The Vision CE modernises that philosophy with an updated form and electric drive.

The Safety Cage

At the heart of the Vision CE is a metal tube composite cage. Paired with a tailored seat structure and seatbelt, it forms a protective shell around the rider. The cage’s reduced height, long wheelbase, and open construction make the bike look light and stretched, not bulky. Exposed aluminium adds a technical precision, while its matte white and black colour scheme keeps the visual identity sculptural and minimal. Neon red accents and integrated seat lettering underline the concept’s urban attitude.

Technology with Freedom

The Vision CE goes beyond form. Its balancing function allows the vehicle to stay upright on its own when stationary, removing one of the most common points of discomfort in urban riding. Combined with a fully electric drive, the Vision CE is both emission free and aligned with BMW’s wider sustainability strategy.

BMW Motorrad has been consistently pushing this space. The C evolution prototype in 2014, the CE 04 launched in 2022, and the CE 02 in 2024 all set benchmarks for design and usability. The Vision CE now builds on that legacy, offering a creative and casual outlook for tomorrow’s cities.

By taking away heavy gear requirements, focusing on simplicity, and adding intelligent technology, the Vision CE shows how commuting could feel more natural and enjoyable.
