Mahindra has announced its Global Vision 2027, introducing a new NU IQ platform that will serve as the backbone of its future SUV lineup. Flexible, modular, and multi energy, the platform supports internal combustion, hybrid, and fully electric powertrains, along with front wheel and all wheel drive options. Beginning in 2027, this platform will underpin a range of SUVs designed for both Indian and global markets.

The NU IQ Platform

NU IQ has been engineered as a foundation for freedom, safety, and next generation technology. Its highlights include:

  • Command seating for strong driving dynamics

  • Spacious cabins with generous boot capacity

  • Flat floor architecture, including Mahindra’s first flat floor ICE SUV in development

  • Lightweight body structure with safety as a priority

  • NU UX digital architecture for seamless connectivity and smart features

  • Flexibility across multiple body types, left and right hand drive, and both two wheel and four wheel drive

This versatility allows Mahindra to meet customer needs across different markets while ensuring efficiency in design and engineering.

Four Distinct SUV Concepts

At the heart of Vision 2027 are four SUV concepts, each representing a unique interpretation of Mahindra’s HEARTCORE design philosophy.

  • Vision T: Rugged and upright, a bold SUV described as born iconic. Closely tied to the Thar family, it emphasizes strength and all terrain readiness.

  • Vision SXT: A sibling to the Vision T, carrying the same iconic spirit with its own unique form, exploring utility and adventure.

  • Vision S: Balanced and sporty, combining solid proportions with confident performance. Inspired by the Scorpio lineage, it will be the first to enter production.

  • Vision X: Compact and athletic, with sculptural surfaces and refined styling, pointing toward the future of smaller global SUVs.

All four have been designed collaboratively by Mahindra’s studios in Mumbai and Banbury in the United Kingdom, and engineered at Mahindra Research Valley.

Mahindra has outlined when these concepts will become production models:

Vision T

This phased rollout shows Mahindra’s intent to cover multiple SUV segments, from compact to full size, while steadily expanding its portfolio globally.

Design and Leadership Vision

According to Mahindra’s leadership, the NU IQ platform is a strategic blueprint for the company’s future. It combines practicality with flexibility, opening opportunities across premium SUV categories worldwide.

Pratap Bose, Chief Design and Creative Officer, explained that the design language embraces contrast and expression. The four concepts show how different personalities can emerge from a single foundation, ranging from rugged to sporty, refined, and futuristic.

Looking Ahead

Production models based on the NU IQ platform will begin arriving in 2027, marking a new chapter for Mahindra SUVs. With advanced architecture, bold design, and clear global intent, Mahindra is preparing to redefine what premium SUVs mean in India and abroad.

Closing Note

The NU IQ platform and the four concept SUVs, Vision S, Vision T, Vision SXT, and Vision X, reflect a brand determined to push boundaries of design, performance, and innovation.
