How sf–so brings warmth and intuition back into modern product design.
We live in a world overflowing with screens, sensors, and endless updates. Digital products are everywhere, claiming to make life easier. But in truth, they often demand more of our attention, more of our time, and more of our patience. As we rush through our days, even the simplest tasks have become unnecessarily complex.
The Tamed Digital Product Project, designed by sf–so, challenges this reality. It doesn’t reject technology. It redefines our relationship with it. These products ask a bold question: What if digital devices felt natural again? What if technology could work the way we think, move, and feel?
This collection—Ball Internet Radio, Cone Bluetooth Speaker, Wheel Digital Radio, and Fingerprint Smart Door Lock—shows us that it’s possible to design modern products that feel human. Products that don’t overwhelm. Products that invite interaction through instinct.
Ball Internet Radio
Tactile control through magnetic motion
At the top of this radio sit three magnetic balls. Roll them or lift them to change the station. That’s it. No menus. No screens. Just direct, tactile control. This interaction feels natural. You don't need instructions. You don’t have to second-guess. Every movement gives a satisfying response, combining utility with joy. The design doesn't just function—it engages.
Cone Bluetooth Speaker
One gesture, immediate response
Flip it. It turns on. Gravity sensors recognize the movement and connect to your device. No buttons. No apps. No setup rituals. The Cone Speaker distills music down to its simplest access point. Its sculptural form doubles as an object of decor, but its real beauty lies in how it reacts to you. It works because it listens to motion, not menus.
Wheel Digital Radio
Modern interface meets timeless logic
Radios once relied on a single wheel. You turned it, and the frequency changed. No complexity. No confusion. The Wheel Digital Radio revives that clarity. The entire body becomes the tuning wheel. Turn it and it responds. Your hands remember what to do before your brain has to think. This is not nostalgia. It’s design built on proven memory, delivered with fresh intent.
Fingerprint Smart Door Lock
Smart security with familiar behaviour
Most smart locks feel like tech gadgets. Cold. Abstract. sf–so took a different approach. Their Fingerprint Smart Door Lock retains the form and feel of a traditional lock. You reach, you touch, you open. It’s that simple. The fingerprint sensor is embedded seamlessly, removing the need for keys without removing the comfort of a familiar gesture. Security should feel human. Now it does.
A New Way Forward
The strength of sf–so’s work lies in its clarity. These aren’t experimental concepts or nostalgic novelties. They are modern, functional products designed with empathy and purpose. They bring back what technology often forgets—our instincts, our senses, our need for calm.
In an age where everything demands our attention, Tamed Digital offers a better path. These products don’t shout. They respond. They don’t dominate. They collaborate. And that is where the future of design should be heading.
NIWWRD's Take
The Tamed Digital Product Project reminds us that great design doesn’t need to be loud, complex, or digital-first. It needs to be clear, intuitive, and human. sf–so has achieved that with precision and restraint. These are products that care how we feel, not just what we click.
When technology finally gets out of the way, design has the power to reconnect us with what matters.
