Every once in a while, a motorcycle comes along that does not just fit into the category it belongs to. It tries to rewrite it. The Ultraviolette F77 MACH 2 is one of those bikes.
Made in Bangalore, it is not just about speed or range. It is about proving that Indian design, engineering, and innovation can hold their ground on a global stage. The F77 MACH 2 is not reviewed here because it is electric, but because it represents a new idea of what an Indian performance machine can be.
Form
The fighter jet inspiration is unmistakable. Sharp cuts across the fairings, a muscular central body, and a pared back tail give the F77 MACH 2 a disciplined aerodynamic silhouette. Even the side scoops are functional, channeling air effectively.
Ergonomics reinforce this intent. Clip on handlebars, rear set pegs, and a forward lean put the rider in a performance mindset immediately. This is not a commuter’s compromise but a design that communicates speed and purpose.
From angular LED lighting to integrated grab rails and the charging port placed where a fuel tank would be, every element feels thought through. Aggressive, yes, but balanced and coherent.
Function
Performance is clear and focused. The F77 MACH 2 delivers 40 horsepower, 100 Nm of torque, and a top speed of 155 km/h. Battery packs include a 7.1 kWh option and a 10.3 kWh pack, offering ranges up to 323 km. Braking is managed by large discs with dual channel ABS and nine levels of regenerative control.
The real story lies in how Ultraviolette has redefined performance without changing the hardware. Through the Gen3 Powertrain Firmware, the bike receives a free upgrade across all existing MACH 2 models.
The highlight is Ballistic+ mode, which injects urgency into throttle response. The peak figures remain the same, but the bike feels sharper and more alive the moment you twist the throttle. This is made possible by Violette A.I., a system that has studied more than 8 million kilometres of rider data worldwide. The Vehicle Control Unit processes more than 3,000 signals per second, adjusting the drivetrain and battery management in real time.
The result is a smarter, more responsive motorcycle, powered by intelligence rather than additional hardware.
Evolution and Updates
What makes the F77 MACH 2 stand out is that its design is not static. The Gen3 firmware is backwards compatible, meaning every owner, whether early adopter or recent buyer, can download the update free of cost.
This approach shows how Ultraviolette views design not as a finished product, but as something alive, capable of evolving with time and data.
Good Design
The question is whether the F77 MACH 2 represents good design. By NIWWRD’s standards, the answer is yes. It is innovative without being experimental, useful without compromise, and honest in what it delivers. It is aesthetic, understandable, long lasting, and detailed down to its smallest elements.
Most importantly, it balances form and function with clarity of purpose. The F77 MACH 2 is not just a fast machine, but a vision of how future mobility in India can look and feel.

NIWWRD Verdict
The Ultraviolette F77 MACH 2 is good design. For India to produce a sport EV that can stand on equal footing globally is no small achievement. It is not only a machine of speed, but a coherent statement of ambition, innovation, and design excellence.
