Škoda Epiq: A Bold Vision for Affordable Electric Mobility

Škoda has revealed the Epiq show car, a compact all-electric SUV that signals the brand’s most accessible EV to date. Production is planned to begin in mid-2026. Positioned as the entry point into Škoda’s electric portfolio, the Epiq combines modern design with everyday usability and a price point that aims to bring electric mobility to a wider audience.

Modern Solid Design Language

The Epiq debuts Škoda’s new Modern Solid design language. The exterior is shaped by clean, bold surfaces and a minimalist approach. The distinctive Tech-Deck front face replaces the traditional grille with a sleek, closed structure. Slim T-shaped daytime running lights and turn indicators give the front a futuristic character, while a strong tornado line along the side adds visual dynamism. The matte cashmere finish underlines the concept’s refined yet approachable appeal.

Space and Practicality

Although only 4.1 metres long, the Epiq delivers a surprising amount of space. It accommodates five passengers in comfort and offers a 475-litre boot, a capacity on par with larger vehicles in the segment. With an expected range of up to 425 kilometres, the Epiq is not only suited for daily commutes but also capable of longer weekend trips.

Inside, the cabin maintains the minimalist theme while focusing on functionality. Wireless smartphone charging, straightforward physical controls, and Škoda’s signature Simply Clever storage solutions enhance the ease of everyday use.

Affordability as a Core Principle

One of the defining aspects of the Epiq is its affordability. Škoda is targeting a starting price close to that of its combustion-engine sibling, the Kamiq. Analysts expect the model to arrive in the region of €25,000, placing it among the most competitively priced EVs in Europe. By offering electric mobility at this price point, Škoda aims to make sustainable driving accessible to a broad customer base.

Platform and Production

The Epiq will be built on Volkswagen Group’s MEB Entry platform, which also underpins the upcoming VW ID. Polo, ID. Cross and Cupra Raval. Production is scheduled at the Navarra plant in Spain, part of the wider Electric Urban Car Family initiative. This shared approach will allow economies of scale and ensure competitive pricing without compromising on quality.

Strategic Importance

The Epiq represents more than just another addition to Škoda’s line-up. It is intended as a key driver of the company’s electrification strategy. With electric models already accounting for nearly a quarter of Škoda’s deliveries in the first half of 2025, the Epiq is positioned to accelerate adoption further by appealing to cost-conscious and first-time EV buyers.
